thanks for putting this up. i can't believe it's been 10 years, because the US still has staff in Afghanistan and also Iraq.

This was one indybay article that I thought was interesting. In a similar fashion, Tristan Anderson had traveled to Iraq during a brief window when it wasn't super dangerous (although he did get hurt when someone grabbed his camera).

Here, Tristan may be one of the first U.S. journalists announcing the existence of Abu Ghraib prison as a site where local residents were being detained without due process or any notice to their families outside.
