Next Step Action 2013
Location Details:

An informative & fun afternoon for:

Anyone who is interested in participating in upcoming nonviolent direct action - and -
those who are willing to support others risking arrest - and -
folks who just want to find out more before they decide.

Facilitated by a team of experienced trainers, we’ll prepare ourselves to engage in nonviolent direct action to stop the Keystone Pipeline. The training will include a short Keystone Tar Sands XL Pipeline Teach-In with the latest updates. We will also have a group action photo to show the world we are getting ready for action, including a mock takeover of the SF Federal Building.
Please RSVP if you can attend: NextStepAction2013 [at] gmail.com
& dress for the weather.

We have written letters, made phone calls, educated ourselves and others, demonstrated in the tens of thousands, participated in Idle No More flash mobs, and been arrested at the White House as we push President Obama to stop the Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline. Yet we have no sign that Obama will walk his climate talk and reject the pipeline. Additionally a 'deeply flawed' State Department environmental report indicates approval may be likely. It's time to organize ourselves to take nonviolent direct action where we live and to raise the social and political cost for approving what James Hansen calls "Game Over" for the climate. This training is part of the Tar Sands Blockade week of Action.

We are asking everyone to do three things to prepare:
1) FORM A GROUP: Organize a group of people who will participate in--or support those who do--nonviolent direct action to stop the Keystone Pipeline. This "affinity group" could be people from your organization, your friends, family, community, congregation, union, school, neighborhood, etc. Consider attending the March 23 Training together.
2) PARTICIPATE IN SAT MARCH 23 TRAINING: Invite your friends and groups members. Down loadable fliers at 350bayarea.org
3) ATTEND SAT MARCH 30 ACTION MEETING: Attend or if you are part of a group send at least on person to the Action Planning and Coordination Meeting on Sat March 30th, 1-3pm. Location TBA. We will plan and coordinate mass nonviolent direct action in the Bay Area.
