4 pm Board of Supervisors vote; 5:30 press conference; and 6 pm dinner celebration of San Francisco's opposition to the NDAA's indefinite detention provisions of the NDAA and our support for civil liberties!
Support a "yes" vote on a resolution at the SF Board of Supervisors against the indefinite detention provisions of the NDAA(National Defense Authorization Act). Make sure that San Francisco says: No person in our country should be deprived of their civil liberties! Due process for all!

more information:

The 2013 NDAA subjects individuals to arbitrary detention without trial, without any guarantee of due process or the right to challenge evidence and confront one’s accuser. The NDAA also endangers First and Fourth Amendment rights, because the PATRIOT Act and the Supreme Court’s holding in Humanitarian Law Project v. Holder expanded the definition of “material support for terrorism” to include crimes of speech and association even by defendants who neither committed nor ever intended to support violence.

While the NDAA may be difficult to change at the federal level, a groundswell of public support against indefinite detention is the best protection of constitutional rights and liberties. Local government resolutions opposing military detention and supporting an accused’s right to a trial focus public attention on these issues. Such resolutions have passed in 17 communities across the country. Help San Francisco become the 18th and by far the largest one to do so!

3:45 pm: Please show up at City Hall room 244 for a polite but firm show of support for this resolution. The vote could occur at any time between then and 5:30 pm;

5:30 pm: Press conference in front of the Abraham Lincoln statue on sidewalk of the Polk Street side of City Hall (between the east City Hall entrance and Grove Street);

6:00 pm: Meet and eat with other supporters at Gyro King restaurant, 25 Grove, between 8th and Hyde, across from the SF Main Library, for a no-host celebratory (we hope!) dinner!!
