On Friday, January 25, at the Santa Cruz City Council chambers, the Board of Directors of our Transit District will be considering a number of service restorations, to take place in March, 2013.

We urge you to attend this meeting if you possibly can. The meeting starts at 9:00 am. The relevant discussion is listed as Item 12 on the agenda.

While the METRO staff is not recommending restoration of Big Basin bus service at this time, the staff is considering such restoration for a future date, as mentioned in their staff report on Page 12.4:

Beyond Spring 2013, remaining ideas for service changes include:

* Restoration of weekend service to Big Basin State Park

For further details, grab the full agenda packet for the meeting,
which is available online at

http://www.scmtd.com/images/department/board/current/agendapacket.pdf

The first 5 pages show the bare agenda, and pdf pages 172 through 175 (i.e., Pages 12.1 through 12.4) show the staff report for Item 12.

The main reason to attend this meeting is to urge that Big Basin bus service be restored as soon as is feasible, and to highlight the strong support for such restoration.

Hope to see you there.

Meanwhile, please continue to urge your friends to sign our
petition, at http://SensibleTransportation.org/bigbasin/. We plan to present this petition at the meeting on Friday. If you have already signed our petition, Many Thanks!

I was a regular rider of the 40/42 specifically to get out to Waddell Creek for day hikes in Big Basin. It was really cool for someone without a car and I was really really bummed when they discontinued it.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
