Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture critiques the highly sexualized American culture in which women are objectified, objectify one another, and are encouraged to objectify themselves. In contrast to the common narrative of the "slow progress" towards women's equality, Levy exposes the truly grotesque forms that the oppression and degradation of women take TODAY and challenges the popular notion in feminist circles that it is empowering for women to wield their bodies as commodities.
