Call to Action Request Support for Fair Utility Profits

by Yolanda Lewis (yolanda.lewis [at] blackeconomiccouncil.org)
PG&E is currently requesting guaranteed profits of over 11.35% unrelated to performance records, safety records or community support. We are asking the CPUC to reduce the profit percentage to 9.40% as we the rate payers will see increased bills as a result of the profit increase.
The California Public Utilities Commission for the first time EVER is allowing public input for the percentage of profits guaranteed to PG&E paid for by rate payers.

We have requested that the profit percentage be reduced and want to begin raising the awareness for the need to link profits to performance of investor owned utilities who receive rate payer funded profits. The amount of profits designated are not directly related to safety records, performance records or community support. Small businesses create local jobs and PG&E can improve in their contracting with small businesses, improve their safety record and improve their customer relationships and customer service.

Our utility bills will be increased based on the amount of profits PG&E is granted. Make your voice heard by signing this petition we need at least 100 signatures before 10/10/2012. http://www.change.org/petitions/california-public-utilities-commission-reduce-pg-e-s-profit-rate-from-11-35-to-9-40#
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
