Mirkarimi attorneys ask San Francisco Supervisors to swear they haven't spoken to Lee

by KPFA Evening News/Ann Garrison
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors will review the findings of the San Francisco Ethics Commission in the case of suspended Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi on October 9th. This week Mirkarimi’s attorneys submitted a legal brief to the Board, in which they requested that each of the 11 Supervisors either sign a sworn statement that they have not discussed the case with Mayor Ed Lee, or recuse themselves from voting to reinstate or remove him. Mirkarimi's attorneys also filed the sworn statements of Building Inspection Commissioner Debra Walker and former Board President Aaron Peskin as evidence that Mayor Lee had perjured himself before the Ethics Commission.

§Mirkarimi's attorneys have withdrawn this request

Though they are still arguing for the highest levels of due process - fairness, basically - not only to protect Sheriff Mirkarimi's rights but also to protect those of the voters and the integrity of the electoral and administrative process. The Board is being asked to overturn the will of the voters.
