WHAT:

Bay For The Bayou - Part Deux!

Presenting a Benefit concert and auction to increase awareness and help save the Louisiana coastal wetlands that are disappearing at the rate of one football field every half hour. The event will feature Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy nominee Allen Toussaint with his band, soulful Bay Area favorites, The California Honeydrops, plus special guests.

Allen Toussaint is known for producing and writing songs for the original Meters, Dr. John, and The Wild Tchoupitoulas, and for penning a multitude of hits including Lady Marmalade, Yes We Can and On Your Way Down. The California Honeydrops embrace the traditions of blues, gospel, second-line New Orleans jazz, and early R&B.

The benefit concert will include many special guests and an auction of donated art and goods from the Bay to the Bayou. The Bayou is a non-profit of volunteers -all proceeds will directly benefit urgently needed environmental restoration in Louisiana’s wetlands.

WHY OUR PASSION:

America’s largest coastal wetlands, located in the Louisiana Delta, are disappearing at the rate of one football field every half hour. That’s over 25 square miles, an area roughly the size of Manhattan, every year! This is one of the most urgent ecological crises in the history of the United States.

Since 2010, For the Bayou has raised and directly granted $40,000 for wetland restoration projects and community recovery in South Louisiana. Through its grants and partnership with Restore the Earth Foundation, For the Bayou has helped to create awareness and attract additional funding and participation by approximately 400 volunteers across the United States in support of restoration of over 100 acres of wetlands in coastal Louisiana.
