Spoke Art Gallery is proud to present “New World Hoarder,” an exhibition featuring new work by Los Angeles based artist Casey Weldon.

In this exhibition, Casey Weldon will be debuting fantastical and beautifully painted images meant to inspire, question, and evoke laughter.  “New World Hoarder” takes you on a surreal adventure ripe with four-eyed animals, majestic woods people, and chalk full of acerbic pop culture jabs.

Weldon pairs exquisitely rendered paintings on wood panel with thoughtful, humorous and bitting takes on the pop culture obsessed world around us.  He seamlessly balances the monumental with the trivial to offer the viewer a truly original slice of life today.  This show mixes the cute, the creepy and the melancholy.  The artist presents the idea of a romantic and colorful image as a means to deliver something a little darker, stranger or just plain absurd.

About the artist:
Born and raised in Southern California, Casey Weldon graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.  After working in both Las Vegas and Brooklyn, Casey has settled back in Los Angeles.  He has shown at Gallery 1988, C.A.V.E. Gallery, The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, 323 East Gallery, WWA Gallery, and Rothick Art Haus.

Showing alongside Casey Weldon will be Peter Adamyan in a special mini show entitled “Back Room Cinema”. Peter started his artistic career in Los Angeles and has recently relocated to San Francisco.  Adamyan’s series of work takes its influence from B and exploitation movie posters. “I conceived the main pieces in this show with the idea of creating a poster for my own non-existent film, to tell the narrative I want to share. The narratives range from social issues to historical reinterpretations. Subjects range from interracial relationships to denied genocide, from women’s reproductive rights to the beast that women can become when that time of the month hits.”
