Golden Gate Bridge 75th Celebration Commemorates Labor And 100% Union Built Bridge With Ironworkers Exhibit
On May 27, 2012 the 75th anniversary commemoration of the Golden
Gate Bridge took place. The Ironworkers Apprentice Committee had
an exihibition on how the bridge was constructed using heated rivets
and a presentation of labor music was organized by LaborFest.
Musicians included the Rockn' Solidarity Labor Chorus, Kathy Holly,
Jack Chernos, Carol Denney, and Jim Nelson performed.
The performances were organized by LaborFest which holds an annual
working class film and cultural festival every July commemorating the
1934 general strike and working class union history and culture. http://www.laborfest.net
The exhibition was put in by the Ironworkers Apprentice Trades.
