Renaissance High School student Roseeva Smith organized a protest for students from the school to come support the animals at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds November 8, 2011 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Students attending the protest Chelsea Linderman, Emanuel Mercado, and Avery Frederico joined other protesters from the bay area that were following the Circus around to their performances. Many events occurred during the duration they attended. One protestor was assaulted while handing out flyers of information about the Circus and was recording what happened when one man pushed him and his his camera out of his hand. Police were on scene at the time to make sure everything was under control. The students stayed at the fairgrounds protesting animal rights until 7 p.m.
