'Occupy LA' sets up makeshift home outside City Hall

A couple hundred demonstrators remain in downtown L.A. Sunday as the ongoing protest dubbed "Occupy Los Angeles" begins to settle in outside City Hall.

Protesters set up about 30 tents as well as a makeshift library and generator-powered media tent that hosts a number of computer stations. The demonstrators say they're holding regular meetings, CPR and other classes, and are working with police to make sure their protest remains peaceful.

Those who spent the night say they were allowed back on the City Hall lawn at 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning, after the Los Angeles Police Department asked them to move to the sidewalk at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Occupy L.A. began Saturday morning as a crowd of nearly 1,000 marched down Broadway toward City Hall. The procession stretched about eight city blocks and included demonstrators chanting "We are the 99 percent," and holding handmade signs that called for everything from class war to global peace.

L.A. protesters on Sunday say they're attempting to call attention issues including the need for job creation, access to quality healthcare and the special treatment banks and other financial institutions are receiving over individuals.

Occupy L.A. began as an act of solidarity with "Occupy Wall Street," a New York protest that has been ongoing for the past two weeks and has resulted in several hundred arrests.
