UC Berkeley PD's Transphobia Problem
How do the UC Berkeley Police interact with LGBTQ activists? Is the UCB-PD respecting the rights of the LGBTQ community?
A trans-woman activist found herself being interviewed by police after a direct-action in People's Park. The interview goes sour as transphobia seeps from the UC Berkeley police.

An attempt is made to make a formal complaint on her behalf, and to ascertain the identity of the police department members involved in the ignorant remarks .

...throw them the fuck out of your hospital room. never talk to the pigs. there is no law compelling you to cooperate with their investigation.
She repeatedly told the officers to leave after the transphobic comments that they made, and thats when the officers told her about her friend 'Oberon' one of the treesitters was arrested. Thats when she began crying and they took pictures of her face. So she did tell them, they just ignored her.
Yo, just to be clear, not to endorse this law, but to not cooperate with a police investigation raises the potential for charges of obstruction of justice. Of course it depends on the legal status of the person being questioned at the time (e.g. are they a suspect, witness, subject expert, etc.). It sucks, but being ignorant about what charges may be brought down on oneself sucks even more.
Those UC Berkeley cops better watchtheir fucking backs, we're not joking, for too long police gotten away with homophobia and transphobia...well...not anymore!
