The recent surge in racial violence hits Clovis
A few weeks ago in Clovis, a young Native American woman was attacked by white supremacists. The police department seems to be doing nothing even though they reportedly have the license place number of the a car used by the attackers. According to a Department of Justice report (2005), “'American Indians are more likely than people of other races to experience violence at the hands of someone of a different race."
In recent weeks, the mainstream media has been reporting on an alarming increase in racially-motivated crimes committed by whites in the Pacific Northwest (see: http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110622/ap_on_re_us/us_hate_groups_fertile_ground and greater use of Nazi codes (see: http://buzzlog.yahoo.com/buzzlog/94483/a-disturbing-trend-neo-nazi-codes) by white supremacists. Also, from Nevada comes this horrific story of violence against a Native American family--committed by the sheriff's son, among others: http://rt.com/usa/news/nevada-bonta-family-lisa/
(This latter article cites a 2005 Department of Justice report saying that “'American Indians are more likely than people of other races to experience violence at the hands of someone of a different race,'” with 70 percent of reported violent attacks committed by non-Indians.”)

Here is a report from Corrine Fairbanks of the American Indian Movement in Santa Barbara (http://www.aimsb.org/):
John and Wanda Dawson’s daughter, Patty Dawson-Vasquez, was severely beaten in the City of Clovis, California this past Tuesday afternoon [mid-June 2011]. She was attacked by three individuals, with swastika tattoos, who beat her to unconsciousness as they yelled ethnic slurs at her. Afterwards, they stole her car and fled the scene. She was hospitalized for treatment of her injuries and is now at home under a doctor’s care. The police have not yet apprehended the criminals who did this. More information about the incident and whom you can contact will be made available tomorrow. Please keep Patty in your prayers.
Thank you.

A relative of the victim says the detective isn't returning their calls, and the police have the white supremacists' license plate #, but still nothing is being done.
