Jacobsen relates the resourcefulness of Palestinians in coping with the Israeli lockdown of Gaza, the recent Egyptian moves to re-open the border at Rafah, his views of the recent exchanges between Obama and Netanyahu, the upcoming flotilla challenging the naval blockade, and his general pessimism about the “peace process”.

InshaAllah is a feature length documentary chronicling life in Gaza, featuring interwoven profiles of Gazans living under siege and creating a window of communications between the people “inside” Gaza and the Western world.

Producer and director Maurice Jacobsen lived in the Gaza Strip for 12 months, the only independent Western journalist to do so. According to Jacobsen, “The goal of the project is to show Gaza as a society that is diverse, intelligent, hard working and creative. At the same time it is a community that is deeply troubled, living under a complete political, economic and military siege. I think,” he adds, “Gaza is completely misunderstood and a documentary like Inshallah can hopefully help.”

Maurice Jacobsen is an independent documentary producer/director who has worked on projects throughout the world for the past thirty years. With projects produced for PBS America and Discovery Channel Europe, he is now returning to Gaza to continue chronicling life in the besieged area.
