US Nuclear Regulators Meet Today/Flaws in Reactor Design

Corporate news media is reporting that nuclear energy regulators will be meeting today to receive an update on the status of Japan's stricken nuclear complex. As they get together they will begin plans for both short-term and long-term reviews of US nuclear safety.
NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko is promising a careful examination of the nuclear disaster in Japan and a thorough review of US practices going forward, say corporate media reports, including AP.

In recent days, the NY Times uncovered information that experts have criticized potential Weaknesses in GE's reactor design. The Fukushima reactors are of GE design, as are some of the 104 US reactors. Looks like GE was banking on NO earthquakes and went for the cost-saving design. Read more at the link.
