Peoples Education Project Holds Inaugural Event - Palestine, Israel, and the U.S. Empire

by John Crockford
The Peoples Education Project - founded by Fresno-area activists within the Peace and Freedom Party - seeks to advance socialism through education, discussion, and dialog and to provide a solid foundation for the application of socialist ideals in the struggle for social, economic, and racial justice.
For its inaugural event on October 23rd, the Peoples Education Project hosted author Richard Becker in a talk and discussion of his book, "Palestine, Israel, and the U.S. Empire" at the C.A.F.E. Infoshop.

Richard Becker is a writer and commentator on Middle East affairs. He has visited the Middle East on numerous occasions, has contributed to books and videos on Iraq and Middle East affairs, and been a featured speaker across the country and around the world. Richard is the western regional coordinator of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) and a regular contributor to Liberation newspaper and PSLweb.org.

Plans are in the works for more Peoples Education Project events. In November, the group will host "Why The Free Market Has Failed Us - a talk and discussion on capitalism and socialism with Dr. Robert Allison."

Dr. Allison is a retired professor of economics. He taught for 41 years including 35 years at Fresno State. Dr. Allison will talk about capitalism, socialism, and political economy with an emphasis on the role of Karl Marx.
