Police officers memorial vandalized in Fresno

by Oscar Grant
In solidarity with the Oscar Grant protests in Oakland, concerned citizens in Fresno Vandalize Police officers memorial
640_015_-_copy__2_.jpg
Because Police show so little respect for the life of the people they so visciously gun down, i.e. Oscar Grant, concerned citizens in Fresno vandalized a police officers Memorial in Fresno's courthouse park tonight. If the cops aren't going to show any respect for the people they are supposed to "Protect and Serve" we are not going to show any respect for their fallen.
The actions of the Police in Oakland tonight also show their disrespect for justice in General. Their heavy handed violence towards protestors just reinforces their total disconnect with the people of Oakland. Talk about outside agitators. No Justice, No Peace, Fuck the Police!

cheers! great action imo, but only a limited few of us will think so. I can just imagine the liberal cries now...

Great to see some disrespect for the pigs in Fresno. More than one unarmed civilian a month murdered last year is no reason to memorialize the FPD. No justice, No peace.... And dont listen to the liberal cries, they are counter-productive.

don't believe the liberal cries. it's hard not to hear them though, so many worthwhile actions have been drowned out in liberal cries. maybe we should listen to them cry, these current events are a scary reminder of the rampant complacency to "authority". this verdict scares me, but the reactions, or lack of, are even more scary.

Utterly disgusting. Regardless of what you think about the verdict, the officers and their families on that memorial had nothing to do with Oscar Grant's killing.

the whole damn system is guilty.
it is disgusting, but murder is even more disgusting. think it through, maybe you can see the connections.

Should have taken a sledgehammer to it
White Pig, white DA, white judge, all-white jury, Black victim = NO JUSTICE

There are two memorials for fallen officers in Fresno, yet these police officers and there thin blue line are responsible for over 42 people being killed since 99. No tears should be shed for a memorial for fallen officers as long as there is no justice for those folks who have been killed by crooked cops. There is no peace in our community, as it continues to be occupied by thugs like Jerry Dyer and the like. They continue to get away with devaluing and locking up whole segments of our community in the name of "peace". Ffff that...

Dan if you are the same Dan who has some relation to these officers and has been apart of calling other folks in this community "terrorists" or "infiltrators". Its clear who you are and where your sympathies lay(or lie), and some of us remember your reporting of folks to authorities five years ago. You'd make a great cop.

You can see your reflection in the polished granite of the memorial. I would suggest those speaking ill towards the Peace Officer's Memorial reflect on who they are actually causing pain. I doubt you would find many of your family/friends that would support such harmful words/actions. I hope someday you look in the mirror, see your reflection and feel shame for your intolerance. I hope someday you choose love over hate.

God Bless-

No matter what, there is no excuse for an execution style murder. Involuntary manslaughter is not given to people who shoot someone in the back and kill them.... I guess this is the liberal cries predicted.

Cops are not saints just because they have a badge and a gun and shouldn't be protected from crimes they commit while on duty. Its one thing to talk about things that folks do while they are still minors, but since you want to bring that up how about Mehserle being kicked out of high school for an assauly on a fellow student that was considered race related(ie he slapped a latina). If you wanna bring up drug related stuff - how about officers who are also mixed up in drug dealing or abuse - one must only look as far as Chief Dyer(steroids)or his nephew. There is also a pretty well documented connection between drug pushing in certain communities and police; and if cops were really doing there jobs we wouldn't still have heroin, crack, meth and other highly addictive and deadly drugs. If you want to look at Oakland specifically - how about the history of the police gang the Riders in West Oakland - or years back when police were pushing dealers and gangs into each others territories(113 folks were killed that year in Oakland).

To get back to Mehserle - if it weren't for the police bill of rights we would know other things about his conduct on the job and possible criminal past. As it is we know of at least one incident in Dec. 08 where he beat up a 40 year old black male for talking about crooked cops.
Since when was a cops life more valuable than those that they are supposed to protect and serve, and why do police seem to have more rights than every one else. Even the right to shoot people and execute them in some sort of wild west scenario. Locally this happens all the time - with cops making up stories later to cover their tracks and breaking the law to protect other crooked cops. Whether its the young boxer who was killed by a Madera cop years ago who mistook her gun for her taser while he was handcuffed in her back seat, or the young man who was killed by CHP a couple of years ago who claimed that he was running at them though he was not able to run because of a previous injury he received when he was younger.

I don't fully agree with what was done to the memorial but so long as people hold cops lives above other peoples lives, and so long as cops cover up for crooked cops who ruin and even take peoples lives... Well you should be lucky that community members don't turn their guns on cops because the way you devalue peoples lives in the community also devalues your own lives. If there is no justice for Oscar Grant's family and the many families locally who have lost loved ones to crooked cops... There will eventually be more names on that memorial, not just some paint. You keep covering up for each other and killing community members and you will get more Lovelle Mixons...

I bet every "peace" officer in the valley knows who Oscar Grant is now. This action obviously got their attention. Fuck Police Brutality!

Patrick D Hanson, aage 44, Sergeant for Fresno County Sheriff's Office, on the Special Response Team.

Curiously, he is a fan of Bill Moyers.

by vandalizing the memorial you portray the very characteristics of what ones often accuse many police of,, stereotyping and hatred. To mar the memorial when you have no personal knowledge of any of the men on it, is at the very least stupid and immature. It's a job not many people would want to do, especially with the disrespect and lack of thanks. Society would be chaos without law enforcement,, petty much because of people like you..

Really? "Special Response Team?" Note to Copwatch....I'm wearing a helmet....a personal floatation device....drysuit.....hmmmmmm....me thinks this might be a Swiftwater Rescue Team....note water in pic....So for future reference, note that I'm an instructor in "Swiftwater Rescue" Not the so-called "Special Response Team."

And Billy Moyers? Huh?

Oh well. Enjoyed the pic.
