Huge underwater gas bubble under New Orleans oil gusher
Huge under water gas bubble near blown out BP well has potential for catastrophic explosion.
With all of the rumor mongering and fear, it is hard to separate truth from fiction in the ongoing Gulf oil catastrophe.
Conspiracy theorists say martial law is right around the corner and they point to aggressive behavior of alleged
mercenaries guarding the beaches in Louisiana.
News reporters have been barred from public beaches. Rumors of frightened residents and storage facilities full
of body bags continue to circulate. Most Americans can't understand why a "simple leak" can't be plugged, and therein
we have the problem.
This is not a simple leak. If foreign news sources are anything to go by, this thing is a major crack in the earth's crust,
replete with smaller cracks, all of which are gushing oil at unheard of pressures. The attempt to "cap" the well failed; given
the fact that there are multiple breaches in the earth's crust, and the well is several miles below the surface of the ocean, this
is not unexpected.
What is unexpected is the pressure found at the well head. According to an article on beforeitsnews.com:
LAST NIGHT ON COAST TO COAST AM , RICHARD C. HOAGLAND, CITING INSIDER SOURCES IN BP AND
IN U.S. GOVERNMENT, SAID THAT A GAS BUBBLE APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MILES ACROSS 10+ FEET HIGH
NEAR THE WELL HEAD OF THE BP GULF WELL , HAD FORMED AND THAT IT MAY CAUSE A MASSIVE EXPLOSION
WITHIN WEEKS OR MONTHS.
If this is the case, it would seem that the priority would be alleviating the pressure from the gas bubble.
If the gas bubble is fueling the increased pressure at the well, eliminating that source of ignition should
be a priority. But, how does one eliminate a gas bubble that is 20 miles across?
How can BP, the government, or any one else defuse this perfect storm of catastrophe?
There is a rumor that BP had plans to set the oil slick afire and ignite the spill. However, what kind of
danger does that pose, with the gas bubble in the vicinity? The oil is toxic; dispersants are toxic;
and the presence of a humongous gas bubble is just icing on top of a very dangerous confection.
With the President just announcing that "the government is in charge" and is supervising BP's efforts,
are we fooling ourselves that this crisis is manageable? Do we have the technology to get ourselves
out of this mess without igniting the undersea gas bubble and unleashing Armageddon?
Is this a situation where we broke something that we don't have the technology to fix and our
government is too frightened to tell the truth for fear of igniting riots in the streets?
