The People Demand "A New Way Forward" at Wells Fargo Shareholders Meeting

The call to take on Big Banks and Wall Street has been answered by thousands.

In San Francisco at the kickoff to a series of marches and rallies around the country, members of A New Way Forward stood up to say: "Now it is time to speak with our feet! We want serious plans to break up the banks, prosecute the fraud, and ensure a safe and prosperous banking system--not just what Dodd is trying to spoonfeed us."

They locked arms with members of Causa Justa and took up the breadth of the sidewalk behind the ANWF banner as they made their way along California Street to reach the Wells Fargo shareholders meeting. At the site of the protest they pointed to the huge Wells Fargo building sign and led chants, including, "You got bailed out, we got sold out!"

ANWF member and Raging Granny Gail Sredanovic portrayed a banker behind bars, delighting a crowd that shouted "Go to Jail!" Businesspeople on lunch breaks joined in the street theater as unwitting bank customers. ANWF members stood side by side with friends from Tenants Together and waved to tourists on passing cable cars, spreading the word: Break Up the Big Banks! Moratorium on Mortgages!
