The Teachers spoke with two organizers of the Reel Work Labor Day Film Festival, already in progress, along with Lisa Smithline, who worked on "The People Speak," Howard Zinn's final production. We talked about the film, Zinn's work, and central role to the work of Educators and Workers in addition to Historians and political activists [MP3, mono, 46:57].
Jeffrey and Tina give some history of the Reel Work May Day Labor Film Festival (in its ninth year), and discuss its growth over the region. This year there are events in Salinas, San Jose, Watsonville, and Santa Cruz as well as CSUMB, Cabrillo, and UCSC.
