Activists with Vegan Pies Wanted for KPFA!
by Bob Linden
Monday Mar 22nd, 2010 10:59 AM

In the aftermath of the controversial "in-your-face" direct action taken by "go vegan" - yelling pie throwers targeting anti-vegan author Lierre (Liar) Keith at the recent anarchist book fair in San Francisco, BOB LINDEN, host of "Go Vegan with Bob Linden" aired by GREEN 960 in the Bay Area, has decided to "pie" the radio station that has supported and publicized Keith's book and offered it as a premium for donations - KPFA.

"Liar Keith's book is a shameful exercise in factless falsehoods rivaled only by the writings of Sarah Palin", Linden said, "and shame on the very speciesist KPFA for saying to its audience, 'donate enough money to us, and we'll send you a book that will help make you sick, kill your family, destroy the environment, and torture and murder billions of innocent animals.'

KPFA's censorship of vegan and animal rights perspectives, which provide the solutions to all societal problems, must end now."

Linden will "pie" KPFA with fellow activist Alfredo Kuba at 1pm this Monday at 1929 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Berkeley. They invite all activists frustrated by KPFA's anti-vegan, anti-animal rights, anti-environmental programming practices to join them.

The only reason Linden is doing this is because KPFA did not want to broadcast his program. He is just having a tantrum and he is using this non-issue to do it.

Horizontal hostility. Why waste time on our allies? The real enemies work for Monsanto, Chevron, KBR, governments, etc...

Anyways, most of Lierre's book is on point.

When she withdraws her logically and factually challenged book, her malicious and mean-spirited book, people will stop calling her out on her BS.

Fair enough?

Fuck this "horizontal hostility" idea. We're not on your team, Lierre. You are no better than any other animal exploiter. Not everyone agrees with your doomsday plot to destroy civilization, so stop acting like you're part of our in-group and we somehow need to withhold criticism. You're an animal exploiter who profits from perpetuating the suffering of sentient beings.

If she wanted to prevent "horizontal hostility" (a term that she brought into the anti-civ movement, according to Jensen), why did she write a condescending and mean-spirited book targeting at 1.5% of the population? If she truly believes that "lifestyle choices" aren't important, why did she write a book all about "lifestyle choices"? These are the kinds of questions I would love to ask her, but unfortunately she treats her speaking engagements like one-way streets, presumably because she knows her ideas are not defensible.
At a prelim hearing about a month or so ago, only ONE KPFA board member was there in support of Nadra.

I'm embarrassed to be associated with these clowns. Can't I express that??? Shit I talked several other people who were at the book fair who have basically the same feelings. Did anyone see the sfgate article and the comment section? Bay area anarchists came off as utter fools.

For "pieing" to work the way that you want you need to recruit "piers" able to run fast and select "pieing" targets that can't or are otherwise not fit.

Yes of course, "pieing" is intended as a symbolic attack BUT it gives the other party the right to choose how to respond to the "battery". Should they choose to run you down and beat the cr*p out of you, YOU, not they, would be judged the agrressors in the fight.

PLEASE -- all I am saying here is that whenever doing an action that confers "right of choice" on the other side you want to make sure that the circumstances, physical or psychological, will be such that your intent continues to govern the interaction (and so "legal" meaningless).

At the hearing for Nadra Foster Current Board member Henry Norr and past Board member Stan Woods both attended. But to be fair both the Indys for Community Radio and Peoples Radio slates backed Nadra ands denounced what happened to her as part of their electoral campaigns .
The '' Concerned Listeners '' didn't.

Throwing pies in peoples faces discredits the serious issues at hand. How can you expect to be taken seriously or demand respect for animals if you are being so disrespectful yourselves? Veganism should be a non-violent stance that means respect for others, even if their attitudes are negative towards the movement. Unfortunately, the fallout splatters on the entire movement and makes us look like buffoons rather than rational people with an important issue. You will get press, and you will harm the movement towards respectful treatment of animals.

if you are that involved to know the internal workings of KPFA politics...I would strongly urge you to get out. You look like one of those crazy listener activists who have nothing else in their life. I hope the best for you. Get out while you can. You are sounding like someone Richard Phelps...a true moron.

if pepper, it couldn't have been much or had much effect on Keith

more likely no pepper, and possibly even a publicity stunt to drive book sales
