Peninsula | LGBTI / QueerGoing to the Courthouse, Gonna TRY to get Married
Activists forced the hand of the County Clerk's Office of San Mateo County, California on National Freedom to Marry Day, February 12, 2010. Same sex couples tried to register for marriage licenses and were turned away. Despite predictions of rain, the sun shone on February 12 for the bride couples, groom couples and demonstrators for marriage equality.

Signing the scrapbook of gay marriage memories. Theresa Rabe of the County Clerk's Office says that when gay marriage again becomes legal, this scrapbook that memorializes the brief period when gay marriage was first legal in California (and the interim period that we are in now) will be housed at the local historical society.
