Contemporary Cuba and the Prospects for Normalizing U.S./Cuba Diplomatic Relations Join San Diego Friends of Cuba and Guest Speaker: Ellen Bernstein from the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization from New York for a dialogue on US/Cuba Relations, Social Justice, the Cuban 5 and the Friendship Caravan to Cuba this July. Ellen Bernstein has served as Associate Director of the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO). She has been deeply and integrally involved in IFCO’s historic work with Cuba. Ellen has been a leader of more than 60 trips to Cuba. She has organized 18 Congressional delegations, and traveled to Cuba with 19 members of Congress and 40 key Congressional aides. She has worked closely with IFCO’s director and attorneys to successfully defend IFCO against a variety of US government challenges. She also had a leadership role in the national grassroots campaign to return Elián González to his father in Cuba.
