At Moe's Books on Nov. 19th, this Thursday evening, I'll be reading from my book of poems, "and Aeneas stares into her helmet," with music. The book asks where the war lives in us as citizens. http://moesbooks.com/shop/moes/readings-and-events.html
2476 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley, 7:30-8:30 p.m. If you come, leave enough time to find parking in the campus area.
Accompanying me on guitar will be filmmaker Moisés Nascimento. http://web.me.com/mmmoises/Duas_Americas_English/Synopsis.html
Also reading will be Tony Barnstone, in from Southern California, from his newest book of poems, Tongue of War, a series of dramatic monologues set in the Pacific in World War II; it won the John Ciardi Prize. http://web.whittier.edu/barnstone/TONY.htm
Here are three videos of Moisés and I performing together (in July): “I Wake Up in the Middle of the Night” (5 3/4 minutes) (this one grooves!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MELH9d6NnEk
“It Is My War” (3 minutes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmHY1SUOYmI
“Aeneas in the Airport” (2 ½ minutes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E9HR-Lg5U0
Hope you can come! Please forward to others, and if you're interested in being notified of events like this in the future (we'll be doing more music/ performance), then please check me out on Facebook (Tiffany Higgins), or you can e-mail me here. Love and peace! Tiffany
