FORMER ARMY INTERROGATOR TERRENCE KARNEY to speak AT THE IRVINE AUDITORIUM, MIIS, on “Torture and Interrogations: Perspectives of an Army Instructor”
Terrence Karney, former Army Interrogator and instructor, will speak on the topic of “Torture and Interrogations: Perspectives of an Army Instructor” at the Irvine Auditorium, Monterey Institute of International Studies, 499 Pierce at Jefferson St., Monterey, on Saturday, November 21st, from 1-3 pm. Karney will give an insider's perspective on interrogation, military doctrine, and the necessity of working within legal bounds. The event is sponsored by MIIS professor Jan Knippers Black's Human Rights Impact Assessment Class, the Monterey Peace and Justice Center, the Peace Coalition of Monterey County, and the Direct Action Task Force Against Torture.
The talk will be followed by a procession to the park site of Camp Bolio at the entrance to the Presidio of Monterey on Private Bolio Road at Lighthouse Avenue, New Monterey, for a vigil against the use of torture, 3-5 pm.
