Does B.A.R. downplay important news?

[ to the Bay Area Reporter:]



Though the Washington state vote was
mentioned by the B.A.R.,
it wasn't presented as if it were important.

The prevailing LGBT political mood seems to be that
"Capital-M marriage is everything,
while civil unions are nothing".

However, queer journalists have a special duty
(especially when they SHARE prevailing community views)
to cover ALL important news --
including news which is UNDER-valued by
many readers today.


Will B.A.R. bother to give full coverage
to the Salt Lake City ordinances
(which could lead to Utah state laws)?


Once you fully report events,
THEN you can express comtempt for them --
like, "These Mormons are just pink-washing their image"; etc.


But please don't let your political biases
act as a prior filter on reporting facts.


Print the facts first;
then freely
mock
what you've reported.
