MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE

Staged Reading

NOVEMBER 19 & 20 AT 7PM; NOVEMBER 21 AT 2PM & 7PM at the Nitery Theatre in Old Union

The Stanford Department of Drama and the Stanford Theatre Activist Mobilization Project (STAMP) are proud to announce a staged reading - the San Francisco Bay Area premiere - of the thought-provoking play, My Name is Rachel Corrie.

This show follows one girl's true story of struggle through adolescence, self-discovery, and idealism as she bursts through her familiar world of Olympia, WA to the conflict-ridden Gaza strip as a volunteer aid worker. Taken from the poetic, gritty, and comedic writings of Rachel Corrie, this one woman show celebrates the precarious young life an emerging social hero right up until she is killed by an Israeli Defense Forces bulldozer while working for social justice and peace in the Gaza Strip in March 2003, teaching us all important lessons about global conflict, peace, and our own responsibility to advance change in our world.

The performances feature an impressive line-up of post-show discussion speakers including Professor Khalil Barhoum, Professor Joel Beinin, and Professor Tom Sheehan.

This event is Free & Open to the public. Please email stanfordrachelcorrie [at] gmail.com to reserve tickets.
