Singing Out for Home Grown Food at World Veg Festival
by Shovel and Hoe
Sunday Oct 4th, 2009 11:07 PM
The Raging Grannies bandied about a real HOE today during their stage performance at the World Veg Festival in San Francisco.

At their Sunnvyale *Farms to Schools* gig recently they were shocked to discover that some city kids apparently think of something completely different when talk of that farm implement arises.

The Hoe Song
(tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb)
by Granny Mascot E. Moran

Mary had a little land, little land, little land
Mary had a little land--Some seeds, shovel and hoe

She planted greens instead of grass,
Instead of grass, instead of grass
She planted greens instead of grass
It's healthier you know!
§okay, kids, what time is it?

And here is a song to the tune of "The Barney Song", also known as "This Old Man".

The Veggie Pride Song

This old gal, she has fun
She's a granny with a bun
And a veggie burger, mayo on the side
That's what we call Veggie Pride

This young gal, she likes stew
meatless tacos, chili too
She can OR-der them with hot sauce on the side
That's what we call Veggie Pride

This young lad, with a smile
Knows home cooking's worth his while
MAKES bean soup with Salad on the side
That's what we call Veggie Pride!

Roll out the Tofu
tune: Roll Out the Barrel
by Granny Gail Sredanovic

Roll out the tofu, meat free is better for you
Vege [pause] tarians live longer
and tend TO live well while they do
Known for compassion, and gentler and kinder it's true
Grannies love our fruits and veggies, we hope you do too!
