The San Francisco Vegetarian Society and In Defense of Animals present the 10th annual award-winning WORLD VEG FESTIVAL, commemorating World Vegetarian Day. This two-day event features informative lectures by the movers and shakers of the vegetarian world, creative vegetarian cooking demos, international cuisine to sample or buy, vegan friendly merchandise, Children's Corner play area, Organic Athletes, Veggie Speed Dating, and a variety of world entertainment.

Presenters include John Robbins ("Healthy at 100"), Rory Freedman ("Skinny Bitch"), Howard Lyman ("Mad Cowboy"), Kathy Freston ("Quantum Wellness"), Dr. Ruth Heidrich ("A Race for Life: From Cancer to the Ironman"), Colleen Patrick-Goudreau ("The Vegan Table"), Cherie Soria ("The Raw Food Revolution Diet"), Shanta Nimbark Sacharoff ("Flavors of India"), Chat Mingkwan ("Buddha's Table: Thai Feasting Vegetarian Style") and Meredith McCarty ("American Macrobiotic Cuisine").

"You do not have to be a vegetarian to come", says SFVS President Dixie Mahy. "We want everyone to come and try our delicious food, learn about vegetarianism and have a good time."

Founded in 1968, the SFVS is a non-profit, volunteer and community-based organization that promotes the nutritional, ethical, social and environmental benefits of a vegetarian diet.

SFVS President Dixie Mahy is available for interviews. Dixie can be reached at 415-885-2251 or dixiemahy [at] gmail.com.
