Space-We live in it, but what is it? Changing ideas about space have revolutionized science in the last century and new theories about space pose the possibility of radically reshaping our understanding of nature from biology to cosmology and particle physics. California Institute of Technology Professor Matilde Marcolli will describe the crucial role of mathematics in the development of these ideas about space and the implications this has for the future of science and how we understand the world.
