Jeff Mackler will deliver a Marxist analysis of world capitalism's crisis. A question-and-answer period will follow. This is a free event. Refreshments provided. Tax-deductible donations are welcome. Mackler has written and lectured widely from a Marxist perspective. His numerous books, pamphlets and articles cover a range of subjects including revolutionary developments in Latin America, the Cuban Revolution, the social transitions in the USSR and China, Marxist analyses of the unfolding world economic meltdown, global warming/climate crisis, health care, trade union struggles and the fight to build the U.S. antiwar movement. Mackler, the national secretary of Socialist Action, was his party's 2006 candidate for the U.S. Senate in California. He was the founder of the Mobilization for Peace, Jobs and Justice, which mobilized mass opposition to U.S. policies in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Grenada. He is the director of the mobilization to free Mumia Abu-Jamal and the west coast coordinator of the Lynne Stewart Defense Committee currently.
