California | LGBTI / QueerMarch to Sacto Arrives on day Five!
On Monday, March 30, marchers to Repeal Prop 8 arrived in Sacramento after walking for 5 days from the Bay Area. They connected with communities large and small along the way, sharing and hearing stories of lives and struggles for LGBT equality. Tired and sore feet were well worth it. A successful rally on the Steps of the State Capitol was met with enthusiasm! If the CA Supreme Court does not overturn Prop 8, many people, LGBT and straight as well, will participate in Civil Disobedience in San Francisco. The activists of *One Struggle One Fight* call on the LGBT community and allies all across California and beyond to organize local peaceful vigils and acts of civil disobedience. A decision to uphold existing gay marriages, but a refusal to perform any more (as some predict will be the outcome) will NOT be cause for celebration, but a call for demonstration!
Check the *One Struggle One Fight* website for how to get involved~ Also see: http://www.MeetintheMiddle4Equality.com to find out about a STATEWIDE gathering and demonstration for LGBT equality in Fresno, the first Saturday after the Supreme Court decision is announced.
