Santa Cruz Indymedia | Arts + Action | Education & Student ActivismShakespeare Santa Cruz to close its door forever on December 22nd
Dear Friends and Family, ![]() shakespeare-santa-cruz.jpg I first acted with SSC my sophomore year of college when I was cast as a courtier in their world priemier of Kate Hawley's "The Princess and the Pea". Since then, I have been in the world priemier of "Sleeping Beauty", joined the summer company as an intern, and have been a member of Shakes-To-Go two years in a row. The summer I was an intern was the best and most rewarding summer of my life, and it would be a shame if these opportunities were taken away from students let alone the theatre-going public.
In this time of economic strife, I realize that it is somewhat obscene that I am asking you all to donate money so please know that I would not be writing this email for something that was not close to my heart, or did not believe in. In times such as these, I find it most important to try to keep the arts alive as a beacon of hope that there is something going on besides Wallstreet, Iraq, and journalists throwing their shoes. You can make a donation via the company's website. Please remember that absolutely no amount is too small, and if everyone on this list donates $5, $10, $20 it could make a huge difference. The website is: http://www.shakespearesantacruz.org . The link will take you to the university's donations page, where you will need to navigate a drop-down menu and select Shakespeare Santa Cruz as the recipient. I know this might be a bit of a hassle, but please take the five minutes to follow through. We need as much support as possible. If you know anyone who might be interested, please forward this email to them with my thanks and regards. I hope you all have joy and love in this holiday season, and thank you for taking the time to read this letter. lovelovelove, |
