San Francisco | Labor & WorkersJail the Bankers Not the Workers Rally 12/9
Demonstration held inside lobby and outside Bank of America branch at Powell and Market Tuesday night in solidarity with laid off workers at Chicago Glass Works. Called for by ANSWER Coalition and SF Labor Council.
Demonstration by labor and social justice groups called attention to the hypocrisy of workers being laid-off at a Chicago Glass Factory, because Bank of America had cut off credit necessary for continued pay-roll loans. The workers lost their jobs, health care, and benifits on a moments notice without a hearing or special meeting called by the employer as required under Illinois Labor Law. Taking Direct Action to protect their jobs and retirement, the workers have occupied the Glass Factory, and refuse to leave until an open meeting is convened with the employer. In the tradition of labor radicalism and building the movement, not only must the employers accounting books be opened, but the financial institution which missused tax payer monies - Bank of America, should be convicted of fraud and deceit to workers and taxpayers alike. The $25 billion dollar bailout was intended to allow B of A to continue with ongoing loans to companies such as the Chicago Glass Works for their day to day operations.

Great video of the action. thanks for posting. Esp. #3. Fabulous that you were able to stay inside and tape during the entire 10 or more minutes the demonstrators were inside the B of A lobby. Interestingly, the bank customers/employees seem not the least bit fazed by the purposeful interruption. I can't help but feel they took home the message.
