BMW strikers close to resolution with Autonation
by R. Robertson
Wednesday Jul 23rd, 2008 12:18 PM
At least some of the strikers at BMW/Mini in Mountain View, California may go back to work as early as August 4.
Negotiations between the IAM & AW Local 1101 and Autonation (new owners of the local car dealership) have been
on again off again for 8 weeks. The mega dealership aims to slash the pay and benefits of auto service technicians
at both the BMW and Mini dealerships.

Last Saturday July 19 the negotiating committee for District 190, Local 1101 IAM & AW refused to leave a demonstration in front of the Mountain View BMW dealership to relocate scheduled talks. Negotiations resumed later that day.

Yesterday the union membership voted on a proposal from Autonation.

International Association of Machinists and Aersospace Workers Local 1101 had community support during their colorful strikes at the intersection of Grant and historic El Camino Real in Mountain View.
