Support SMARTrain at the July 8
Novato City Council Meeting

Tuesday, July 8, 2008
6:30 PM

On Tuesday, July 8th the Novato City Council will be directing Novato's Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART)/Transportat ion Authority of Marin (TAM) representative Carole Dillon-Knutson on how she should vote regarding SMART for the November 2008 election.

The SMART District Board of Directors will be voting on July 16th at their regular meeting regarding the expenditure plan language to place a quarter-cent sales tax on the ballot to build a train and pathway that would run between Larkspur and Cloverdale (70 miles).

If you are a Novato resident please attend or if you know Novato residents that are supporters of SMART, please ask them to attend this meeting and let the Novato City Council know that you support SMART, and that they should support Councilmember Dillon-Knutson to vote to put SMART on the ballot to let voters decide the future of the train and pathway proposal.

Express the importance of letting members of the Novato community vote on SMART in November; it should be up to the voters to decide SMART's fate and the council should not attempt to prevent this democratic process.

The agenda for this meeting indicates this item will be heard at 7:30 PM but please arrive before then to make sure you are able to give public comment.

Please RSVP to andy@marinbike. org if you can make this important meeting.

Thank you!
