Urgent!! Caravan to Cuba needs help!

by Peace Coalition of Monterey County
Urgent!! Caravan to Cuba needs help!

We just got a call from Janet Louise Wilson, who is traveling with the 19th Caravan to Cuba to deliver donated medical supplies. They have been stopped at the border crossing near McAllen, Texas, where border guards are confiscating all the donated computers on the buses. The group is currently debating whether to initiate a stand off.

Please call your congressional representatives immediately and tell them to swarm all over the Treasury Department about this.
The border guards need to release the computers and allow the Caravan to continue on its way.

§Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba Aid Seized at Texas-Mexico Border
by Soledad Rodriguez (reposted)
50 donated computers have been seized so far as volunteers attempt to cross the U.S.-Mexico border with humanitarian aid

Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization/Pastors for Peace, an organization leading over 100 volunteers on the 19th U.S.-Cuba Friendship Caravan has had 50 donated computers seized by U.S. Customs this morning in Pharr, Texas.

The computers along with the rest of the nearly 100 tons of humanitarian aid are destined for Cuba. The participants of the 19th U.S.-Cuba Friendship Caravan are demanding an end to the 47-year-old U.S. blockade against Cuba, as well as the liberation of the "Cuban Five", five Cubans who are being held in U.S. jails for protecting their people against U.S.-government-sponsored terrorism.

You can read the Caravan's blog here:

Please call your representatives, media officials, and anyone else to help prevent the seizure of donated humanitarian aid for Cubans, while securing the safe passage of the Caravan volunteers into Mexico.
