Trans March!

Friday June 27, the Friday before Pride
Dolores Park, Dolores and 19th Street

Calling all transfolks, friends, allies and admirers!
The theme of this year's march is "Marching for a Gender Inclusive ENDA", with an objective to bring a focus on transgender civil rights and to celebrate the support of the LGBT family. The keynote speaker for this year's event will be Donna Rose, the former HRC board member who resigned over the exclusion of Trans=people from the 2007 Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).

The Fifth Annual Trans March will take place on Friday, June 27th in Dolores Park, with festivities starting aroudn 3 pm. Thirty different Trans and gender-variant live bands, artists and performers will be featured on stage in a spectacular pre-march show. The march itself will begin at 7 pm, circling through the Castro, down Market and back to Dolores Park for additional music and performances.

The Trans March is a grassroots community building political event, celebrating and welcoming trasnsgender people of all types, and their supportive allies. The march is a demonstration of Trans visibility, inclusiveness, and civil rights. The Friday evening Trans March marks the start of Pride Weekend in San Francisco, with the Dyke March following on Saturday and the Pride Parade on Sunday.

Last year's historic Trans March brough together nearly 7,500 people for an amazing evening of political activism and celebration. This year the organizers are planning on well over 10,000 participants.
