Given the pattern of abuse by UC Berkeley's Police force on people with disabilities, an advocate from the Autism Spectrum Liberation Front is considering suing the University's police for the no-coincidental sum of $2.1 Million.

Given the pattern of abuse by UC Berkeley's Police force on disabled people, an advocate from the Autism Spectrum Liberation Front is considering suing the University's police for the non-coincidental sum of $2.1 Million to be used for a legal defense fund for people on the Autism Spectrum.

The lack of disciplinary action on officers such as Brashear, Hernandez, and most notably Sean Aranas shows disregard for the safety and legal rights for the differently-abled.

As well, UC Berkeley Police Chief still refuses to have her officers take appropriate ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and other psych-training as to better serve people with social and emotional disabilities, and to ensure their rights are maintained.

On the legal basis that one has the right to an interpreter, the police (and the jails and courts as well) should have cultural-emotional interpreters to help facilitate communication between people who are neuro-atypical and the police. The UC Police Dept. chooses to have no such interpreter.

More on the story as it develops.
