The rent control repeal measure under the guise of eminent domain reform, paid for by landlords, Prop 98, must be defeated by a massive voter turnout by every pro-rent control citizen resident of San Francisco and Los Angeles and all must be encouraged to register to vote immediately if they have not already done so. The San Francisco Tenants Union is sponsoring a No on 98 rally on May 7 at noon at the Civic Center Plaza across from City Hall to maxmize voter turnout in San Francisco as that is the only way it will be defeated and rent control is saved, thereby preventing homelessness of millions of people. For more information on Prop 98, see http://www.sftu.org, http://www.no98yes99.com/, and http://www.calvoter.org/voter/elections/2008/state_primary/props/prop98.html The real eminent domain reform measure is Prop 99. As we vote this month by mail or on June 3, remember: We hate 98 but 99 is just fine!
