'Putting lipstick on a pig' in Baghdad
This morning NPR reported that US Occupation authorities are paying art students in Iraqi universities to paint murals over the 12-foot high concrete blast walls around Baghdad. The idea is to "soften" the grim reality of the continuing US Occupation...
As "Dead-ender Dick" Cheney infamously once said, "Putting lipstick on a pig would still not win any beauty contest." But apparently the US Occupiers now believe that painting some lively colors on concrete blast walls would somehow lessen Baghdad citizens' righteous anger toward the terroristic Invaders. (Of course, the students have to submit their preliminary sketches to the puppet Iraqi governing regime "for approval"--so much for free speech in the new US colony of Iraq!)
By that twisted logic, the next trick the Occupiers would try is to paint some love signs on the sides of US humvees, in hopes that Iraqi Resistance would not aim their RPGs on those "peace-loving" US militants?
