Hundreds of Berkeley High Students surrounded a pro-war mobilization across from City Hall. The pro-war forces were mobilized by national right-wing radio talk shows in order to “punish” the city council for taking a strong stand against military recruiting. Nearly a hundred anti-war supporters of the city’s stand to oppose recruiting, the war in Iraq, and the city’s status of a sanctuary city for conscientious objectors and war resisters encamped on the City Hall lawn for the 24 hours leading up to the controversial meeting this evening.
