A rally took place in the Baytree Plaza at UC Santa Cruz on November 7th to protest UCSC's Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) and to announce the newly launched tree-sit on Science Hill.  chancellors-friend_11-7-0... The man with the bicycle, who said he was a close friend of the Chancellor, was begging the heavily armed police to not instigate violence. The police just kept on advancing.
 police-advance_11-7-07.jpg You can see at least two police officers quickly moving forward with their finger on the trigger of what I believe are guns to shoot tear gas canisters. Tear gas canisters have been used to kill people.

Despite the wide-range of police, students were able to get supplies into the trees and even start a new tree-sit.
