ORANGE FRIDAY ACTIONS
on
Both Sides of the Bay
To Our World Can’t Wait Friends,

Contact the World Can't Wait office to get “Declare it Now!” supplies (bold “drive out the Bush regime” orange bandanas, ribbons, flyers) for your workplace, neighborhood, religious community, school, family and friends.

You can organize new Orange Friday activities of your own, and here are some regular events that are already underway which everyone is invited to join as well:

** Every Friday morning: freeway bannering, both sides of the Bay, 7:00 to 9:00 AM. If you can help with this in person, great. We also need more banner-making help (especially if you are artistic, can help get more supplies, or like to create huge pieces).

** Every Friday 4:00 to 7:00 PM (commute hours): outreach stations at BART stops and other locations, where we’ll enlist people of all ages and many communities to Declare it Now and go orange.

THIS FRIDAY August 10 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Powell Street BART -- at the cable car turnaround -- Look for the Orange and the jail cell with Bush in it! Come talk to everyday people and help make their private disgust at the Bush regime – from the war to the wiretapping – public. Bring your friends!

NEXT FRIDAY August 17 we will also be in San Francisco. We are supporting an important anti-torture protest at the convention of the American Psychological Association. This professional organization is in an uproar because a courageous group of its members are demanding an end to the APA condoning the work of some of its members as consultants to the practice of torture at Guantanamo and other detention centers. The convention takes place in San Francisco and the protest will happen at Yerba Buena Gardens. Watch this space for more information.

Next local World Can’t Wait chapter meeting
Everyone is welcome – come get involved with WCW plans and activities! We also have regular WCW Youth Meetings (let us know if you want to be called about these), however at our main chapter meetings (scheduled about twice a month) we of course, welcome all ages.

NOTE: OUR APOLOGIES! An earlier announcement gave out the wrong date. The next chapter meeting will be:

Thursday August 23 ( NOT Aug. 30!)
Meeting time: 7:00-9:00 PM
Place: Spud’s Pizza, 3290 Adeline (at Alcatraz, near the Ashby BART)
Berkeley, CA
Agenda: among other things, major Fall plans for taking World Can't Wait to the streets, to the campuses, to the many anti-war and other protests coming up, to the media, and to the people in their millions. We may also schedule a guest speaker, watch here for more info.
Wheelchair accessible. No activist experience necessary. Spanish translation available. Don’t wait for someone else to drive out the Bush regime – contribute your time, skills, funds and energy to the movement that can provide the vehicle for millions of people to make this happen.

** Work parties happen every week although the schedule varies. Banner and art making, join a phonebank, contribute your office skills, come to an organizers’ training. Most gatherings are at the WCW office 2940 -16th Street, Redstone Building Room 200-6, one block east of 16th Street BART at 16th and Capp. (Call before you come, our office hours can vary, 415-864-5153.)

Do call or write if you want to help, even if you can’t come to these particular actions or in person to our office. There are many ways you can take up World Can't Wait! and Declare It Now!

Finally -- we would love to hear from more of you out there reading these emails. What do YOU think is happening as the Bush regime rolls its agenda out into the next 17 months, and what do YOU think we should do about this? How can YOU be more actively a part of spreading the World Can’t Wait and working to Drive Out the Bush Regime? Write to sf [at] worldcantwait.org -- we want to hear from you, and we will answer you too.
