Wilderness Leadership Training for Educators

This intensive, five day course is the heart of Bay Area Wilderness Training's programs. It is designed to give you the tools you need to take youth on multi-day backpacking adventures. Completion of the course allows you free access to our equipment loan system. The training consists of a mandatory pre-trip meeting in San Francisco on June 16 and five days of backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains June 25-29. You will learn about proper clothing, basic wilderness first aid, nutrition, equipment use, map & compass reading, leadership styles, group dynamics and more. Role plays are utilized to allow for a realistic back-country leadership experience. Participants will learn by doing! Food and transportation are provided. (No experience necessary)
