ACLU Sues Jeppesen Dataplan for being CIA's Travel Agent: Part II

by Granny Ruth R. (info [at] raginggrannies.com)
National Breaking News: The ACLU said in a press conference held in San Jose on May 30 that a lawsuit against Jeppesen Dataplan, a subsidiary of Boeing Co., was being filed under the Alien Tort Statute, which permits aliens to bring claims in the United States for violations of the law of nations or a United States treaty. The statute recognizes international norms accepted among civilized nations that are violated by acts such as enforced disappearance, torture and other inhuman treatment.

Local news report with video of Press Conference includes statement by ACLU Northern California Executive Director Maya Harris

The American Civil Liberties Union is filing a suit against Jeppesen Dataplan for providing Central Intelligence Agency transportation services for three terrorism suspects who were tortured under the U.S. government's "extraordinary rendition program."

Jeppesen International Trip Planning organized secret flights, on behalf of the CIA, to countries that practice torture.

The Raging Grannies Action League, South Bay Mobilization, Amnesty International local chapters and other groups have been regularly protesting against "Extraordinary rendition" services provided by Jeppesen in front of that company's offices in San Jose, California. Amnesty International describes "extraordinary rendition" as "Air Torture," saying the practice bypasses judicial and administrative due process.
