Santa Cruz Indymedia | Anti-WarCowell's Beach Protest: Out of Iraq!
Saturday was a beautiful day to spend at Cowell's Beach where over one hundred people turned out to protest the growing war in Iraq. ![]() setup.jpg By spelling "Out of Iraq" in the sand with their bodies Santa Cruz residents demonstrated their opposition to George W Bush's recent announcement that he will increase US military presence there by 21,500 additional troops. The demonstration follows a week of actions around the country in response to the escalation plan of the US government. An aerial photograph was taken from the top of the Coast Hotel after more than one hudred protesters filled in the letters.
Last Saturday, Janurary 6, 2006, one thousand people spelled out "Impeach" in the sand at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. http://indybay.org/newsitems/2007/01/01/18342876.php

Thanks for posting these, Amanda! Do you know if the person who took the aerial photo from the top of the Dream Inn is going to post a shot on SC-IMC?
Keep up the good work! from the 4th floor of Santa Cruz Hotel
