On Monday December 18, over 200 supporters gathered in Emeryville to announce a boycott of Woodfin Suites.
On Friday December 15, the Woodfin Suites hotel fired 21 immigrant workers who have been actively organizing to
enforce the city's living wage law.
Holding colorful green and red signs, chanting, singing holiday carolls, and just plain making noise, community members
sent a clear message to Woodfin that firing immigrant workers for standing up for their rights will not be tolerated!
Special appearances included the Grinch and the giant Boycott Rat, as well as members of dozens of labor, faith-based
and community organizations including the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, the Wellstone Democrats,
The East Bay Gray Pathers, and the East Bay Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice.
The worker's children were presented with a donation of toys from supporters.
The workers are seeking an injunction to stop the retalitory firings and a hearing is scheduled in Alameda County Court on Thursday December 21.
Donations are urgently needed to support the workers!
