by dave id
Tuesday Oct 31st, 2006 10:49 PM
In response to governmental and paramilitary violence and repression against the peoples of Oaxaca including the recent murders of New York IMC volunteer Brad Will and others, a crowd came out on Halloween, or the Day of the Dead, to call the Mexican government to account.

Counteroffers were made: demonstrators demanded that the Consul come out to speak with the crowd; the Consul refused and sent representatives to the street to request that four demonstrators go upstairs to discuss the situation, which in turn was not accepted. More demonstrations are planned to keep the pressure on the local Consulate.
